Vergissmeinnicht Chiemgau starts wish tree charity
Christmas is coming! For many of us it’s time to sit back and relax and enjoy the special atmosphere: shiny christmas trees, delicous meals with our families and the joy in our children’s eyes are sometimes taken for granted. But what about the less fortunate? As the festive season approaches, Traunstein based charity foundation Vergissmeinnicht Chiemgau is launching a wish tree project to support our neighbours in need. The wish trees are decorated with shiny starts made by our local Kindergarten. Every star is someone’s wish ranging from expensive meds, to warm clothes and other little treats – the list goes on. It’s all about helping the less fortunate to celebrate Christmas.
Get together to help!
This year, Vergissmeinnicht once again has some strong partners by its side: Traunstein’s local newspaper Wochenblatt Traunstein/BGL, the book shop Krähling at the train station as well as the Hofbräuhaus Traunstein are supporting the project. Stars can also be purchased during the christmas market at Schellenberg in Bergen, that runs during the weekend of the Second Advent as well as at the chapel “Sailer Kapelle” in the village of Chieming, where the son of Hofbräuhaus Traunstein’s Alex Beer is selling stars.
“Together with our partners we have raised over 10,000 euro in 2015”, say Birgit Sailer, head of Vergissmeinnicht Chiemgau. “This year, we would like to fulfill everyone’s wish again. To sell all stars and exceed the amount colleced in 2015, we need your help.”
The Secret Advent Calendar
The charity foundation is also receiving great support by Traunstein’s cultural hub “NUTS”. From December 1 – 24 actors are reading and playing a story on a daily basis – the play starts at 4 pm at the histroical fountain in Traunstein’s central square. Guests will then be guided to the “bewitched forest”! The story tellers are free to decide wether to give their money to Vergissmeinnicht.
It’s easy to fulfil a wish – three trees can be found in Traunstein: at the newspaper Wochenblatt in Ludwigstrasse, the book shop at the station and here at Hofbräuhaus Traunstein. You can buy a star of your choice and use your money to help: easy, directly and unbureaucratically
On behalf of everyone involved we would like to say THANKS and wish you a nice christmas!
